The SC Conference which convenes in Reno next month is in its 19th year. It is the premier technical conference for high performance computing, networking, storage, and analysis. In addition to hosting almost 10,000 attendees each November, the SC community is active throughout the year in activities that include 1) evaluating papers and tutorials 2) outreach and education of the next generation of participants, 3) organizing conference activities, and 4) identifying future conference direction and priorities.
Visualization is an important tool for this community not only for understanding complex mathematical models, but also for education, and communication. Combined with other social networking services it offers opportunities for community building and outreach. You can see some of the SC communities visualization work on YouTube. As general chair of SC09, scheduled to convene in November 2009 in Portland, I am interested in developing a 3D web presence that will support these scientific, educational and community activities.
We will be meeting at the conference on Tuesday 13th November to discuss this 3D web presence. If you are interested in participating or would like to be kept informed of developments please send me your email contact information and I will send you room and time information.
